Let’s celebrate SUMMER!

Fundraising

Celebrate Summer with a Donation to your Local Ontario Greens!
The government is stirring rumors of a provincial election as soon as next year, and our local Greens are ready to elect a Green MPP here in Parry Sound-Muskoka. We came so close last time, and an early election means we must double our efforts to replace Doug Ford’s harmful healthcare and environmental policies with a stronger Green caucus that holds the government accountable. Donate $50 today to boost our community outreach and help us connect with more people this summer. Your contribution will help us build a stronger presence and make a real impact in our riding!

Youth Voice

Coordinated By Brenda Wainman

A fabulous opportunity is being offered by the Muskoka Community Foundation’s Environmental Fund.  A grant for youth aged 14-20 will allow Muskoka recipients to participate in the 2024 Youth Summit for Mother Earth (Run FOR youth, BY youth). This cross cultural event for young Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders provides an opportunity to connect and participate in educational workshops and enjoy a weekend of outdoor fun and learning. The grant covers accommodations, meals, speakers, event coordination, materials and travel. It will be hosted  from Sept. 13-15 at the Tawingo Outdoor Centre in Huntsville. The deadline for submissions has been extended until Friday June 21.

Green Community Initiatives

From Steam to Green at Muskoka Steamships
The Wanda III Steam Yacht has been electrified, allowing her to sail the Muskoka Lakes once again as a symbol of a healthier planet. Beneath her majestic exterior, she has been rewired, replumbed, and equipped with modern controls. With this transition to electric power, Wanda III will serve as both a display and a touring symbol of sustainability, highlighting our need for a more environmentally friendly world. Sustainability and climate change are core themes of the Muskoka Discovery Centre, and we are very proud of this ambitious initiative.

Cycling without Age
Bracebridge residents, and all around amazing people, Bonnie Duits and Kalleen Turchet, have started a local chapter of this fantastic program that shares the freedom of riding a bicycle by way of “trishaw” with seniors in Bracebridge. When on the trishaw, passengers travel along the quiet roads of Bracebridge, explore the Muskoka River, and even small parts of the local trails, all while connecting with friends and family sharing stories, community, and feeling the wind in your hair!
Are you interested in becoming a trishaw pilot? Learn more about this great program (and the e-assisted trishaws) at https://cyclingwithoutage.ca/bracebridge/

Events Recap

This Spring has been busy with Green events galore!

  • Magnetawan Green Fair – This event was a huge success for spreading the word on how to be a little “greener” in our lifestyle, transportation, energy, cleaning and more! Special thanks to the Almaguin Green Team for pulling this together and especially for ordering the great weather!
  • Georgian Bay Biosphere Climate Action Forum – An amazing informative event in Parry Sound where dozens of industry and partner tradeshow booths shared local climate solutions that can help lower your GHG emissions and reduce your costs for energy and transportation. We spoke with building experts, looked at many EV options, learned about composting and welcomed interested visitors at our PSM Green table.
  • Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Awards – Your PSM Ontario Greens sponsored the “Green Initiative Award” this year. Matt Richter, looking sharp in his western attire, presented this award to Melissa of Little Market Muskoka. Melissa’s early education program is a sanctuary where children are introduced to sustainability through immersive experiences in nature.
  • Chili & Chat with Matt – Matt Richter has had the joy of meeting many wonderful volunteers in local communities as we build out regional teams in this vast riding. We can’t wait to hit the ground running and build Parry Sound-Muskoka into a community that listens to and supports all its residents! If you are interested in building our team ahead of the 2026 election, reach out today!
  • Door Knocking with Matt & Mike Schreiner – We had a great group turn out this past Tuesday to knock on doors in Huntsville. Matt Richter and Ontario Green Party Leader, Mike Schreiner were both so blown away by the amount of positivity and support at the doors. We can’t wait to talk to more folks and continue to grow the Green movement!

Our work is funded by grassroots supporters like you.

With your help

We can build an Ontario where we tackle housing affordability,
act on climate, and improve our health. Every little bit helps.
