April 2025
The recent Ontario provincial election may be behind us, but the real challenges and concerns you raised haven’t gone anywhere. That’s why I’m so excited to announce that I will be continuing my work as Deputy Leader of the Ontario Green Party. While I may not have a seat at Queen’s Park, that won’t stop me from acting as your “Shadow MPP” and, more importantly, as a fierce advocate for the people of our communities. I’ll continue holding the provincial government accountable and making sure that the voices of Parry Sound–Muskoka are heard loud and clear.
We are living through a moment that demands leadership, compassion, and real action. People across the riding told me clearly: they want a representative to be their strong, independent voice—offering practical solutions and real strategies to make life better. I will work in our communities to be that voice.
I recognize how overwhelmed we’re all feeling in the face of so much uncertainty—rising prices, new tariffs, Trump’s return to the spotlight, the outcome of the federal election, and more.
Meanwhile, the issues at home are only growing more urgent:
- Affordable housing remains at crisis levels
- Healthcare workers are stretched to the brink
- Food bank usage is at an all-time high
- Extreme weather events are increasing in frequency and severity
- Inadequate education funding fails to meet the needs of our students
If we truly believe in our message “imagine something better”, it is imperative that we continue fighting for the priorities that matter to the people of Parry Sound-Muskoka. Through this past campaign, we built strong connections with people across the region. We listened, we learned, and we witnessed what’s possible when communities come together with hope and purpose. We cannot let that momentum fade.
That means showing up—between elections, in our communities, and alongside one another—to push for the change we deserve. These challenges won’t wait for the next election, and neither should we.
I can only do so much on my own, but with your support and involvement, we can grow this movement together. The Green Party is all about people-powered change, and together, we’ll build on this momentum to make a real impact and create lasting, positive change for Parry Sound–Muskoka.
In the coming weeks, we will be sharing ways of staying involved and supporting this innovative and exciting approach to doing politics better in Ontario.
Let’s keep going.
With gratitude,
Matt Richter Deputy Leader, Green Party of Ontario

Federal Election
We know it feels like we just wrapped up the provincial election—but now it’s time to head back to the polls for the federal one! While there is no local Federal Green candidate running in our riding, we encourage everyone to get out and vote for the candidate representing your values for Canada.
In the recent provincial election, voter turnout across Ontario was just 45.4%—but here in Parry Sound-Muskoka, we surpassed that with a strong 54.5%. Let’s keep that momentum going and aim even higher for the federal election. Every vote truly makes a difference.
Advance voting takes place on:
Friday, April 18, 2025
Saturday, April 19, 2025
Sunday, April 20, 2025
